Red Hot Penny Shares made a 72% loss…
Despite the introduction of a comminution circuit, mechanical difficulties have meant that Noventa has not been able to achieve its targeted rate of production of 200,000 lbs per annum. It has also found that the capital expenditure needed to bring the new plant, with a capacity of 600,000 lbs per annum, into full operation will be ‘significantly higher than originally anticipated’.
On top of this Noventa has warned that it will take longer than anticipated for the mine to become profitable, and this means that it may need more funding. Noventa cites a lack of rainfall that has required it to pump water from nine kilometres away; the impossibility of finding a contractor to build the new plant within time and budget; and the removal of a government subsidy for diesel.
The bottom line however is that boss Eric Kohn has failed to live up to his reputation as a reliable operator capable of delivering on a plan to bring the mine to profitability. This is bitterly disappointing. SELL
